I needed this book in my life. I am just getting into tarot and as a queer disabled person, this really helped me look at the cards in new and radical ways. But even if I wasn’t into tarot, so many of the essays are so applicable to living a more accepting, caring and inclusive life and I love how it goes back through the history of the deck and cards in the context of the periods they were made in and then where we are now.

I really like parts of this, and the first half was fantastic. I got less interested in the minir arcana section. It started to feel like a very party line radical view and I needed more thoughtfulness about some of the things given as true. But that aside, it’s a great and different take on the tarot and all its problematic history. I’m glad I read it. I would recommend it for sure.

Really enjoyed this! Easy to read, yet well researched and you can tell a lot of thought went into each interpretation. I thought some of the interpretations of the cards were a bit repetitive. Each traditionally "negative" card boiled down "capitalism and oppression is what's keeping you down - which is valid, but, I think sometimes the Emperor can just be the Emperor. I loved seeing the history of interpretations and why the imagery used is used. I like how it broke down each aspect of the card and turned it into something that could be very meaningful. Definitely recommend.
