I really enjoyed this dark academia/Gossip Girl/Get Out version of a school story. I did think it took a little too long to get to the big reveal and then the ending felt rushed, but it was a fresh take on a familiar genre and trope. An easy and enjoyable read :)

This let me down and I have complicated feelings about this book that I don't know I'll be eloquent enough to do justice so I'll keep it short. My main issue was with the pacing, which was way off. This was almost 14 hours on audio and I felt it could easily have been 8. I also completely predicted the ending even though I wasn't fully convinced by it. The "wasn't fully convinced" part is where it gets complicated, because this author was making interesting points and I don't want to discredit that especially as a white reader. But the fact that I saw it coming honestly based on the synopsis AND it was already overly long hurt the rating the most.
