Mora does it again with a story of family and finding happiness in the little things! I love this little story, and children and parents from single-parent households will too!
An amazing book! Has diversity, and had a great ending. A heartfelt ending and shows children that no matter what happens in your day you can always look at the positive sides of what happened.
I think I'm a fan of Oge Mora. Oh my goodness, this book is beautiful. I already love how the illustrations were made from "acrylic paint, china markers, patterned paper, and old-book clippings." But this story, about the relationship of a working mom and her child, is even better. It is also about finding joy in the simple things....which we don't do enough of these days.
Loved the collages, the story with other's seemingly ruining their day, not as much. It would have wrecked the main point, but often ticket troubles can be resolved.
I appreciate the sentiment. But I didn't enjoy the collage based art. The day had its ups and downs. And we are told about the closeness of the relationship between mother and daughter, but we really don't see it in the art. And the text didn't sell this either. Not a bad book, but not as good as the idea of the book at the potential to be.
Super fun. I love Mora's art style and this is a great story about managing disappointment. It also showcases a single working mother and her daughter, which I love.
