Honestly, this was an underwhelming read for me. I tried so hard to like it, I really did. After the childhood section, it felt all over the place but in the most boring way possible.

I wanted to like it more than I did. I like the idea of a female friendship that starts very young and continues into adulthood, even when the two protagonists shouldn't have anything in common. But the traumatic event that happened seemed to be more manufactured drama than actual trauma (though I recognize my lived experience is way different from the book, so it might be my cultural blinders on about the situation), and not something that would need thirty years for revenge.

The book was well-written, and I'd like to try something else by the author, but this one missed the mark for me.
