I enjoyed this series as a kid, although all I remember from that time was that the school was accidently built one story on top of the other instead of a sa single story school. The chapters are a series of connected short episodes about kids in a single class and the whole thing has the type of absurdity and good naturedly weird creepiness Lillian and I both seem to enjoy. Rounded up from 4.5 stars because it's a book Lillian picked out and is willing to read by herself.

I really liked the Wayside School series as a kid, so I was really excited to learn that there was a new fourth book in the series. I think this book is as good as the other ones, but it's hard to tell because it's been probably over twenty years since I've read the others. It was good, but I think I'm mostly rating four stars out of nostalgia. I think things probably seemed more exciting as a kid.

I think 3.5? I really love the Wayside School series and it was soooo fun to be able to return to it with a new book. This wasn't my favorite in the series but it was still solid and I would honestly be pleased as punch if Louis Sachar started writing more of these again.

I wish this was written earlier, but it was nice to read and hear what the characters are doing. I loved the Louis had the same characters from the original books and it continued where it left off. I read this series once a year with students in my class and they love it. Unfortunately I read this one without them this year.
