Kevin Hearne will always be one of my favorite authors. Not just because he understands the craft and is able to put together an excellent story, but because it's so clear that he never loses the joy, adventure, and imagination of writing. When reading his work, you can tell he is having fun. And that couldn't be more clear with PAPER & BLOOD.

Reuniting with characters, many new, old, and really old was an absolute delight. I was surprised at some of the reveals and while the story went in a different direction than I thought, it nonetheless gave me what I wanted: A good time. Al, Buck, and Nadia are treasures, each with distinct personalities and some with some wild stories. They are endearing, intelligent, and utterly charming. Not to mention Buck is absolutely hilarious. This is honestly one of the funniest books I've read in a while.

The story had some great twists that expanded the world as a whole. While this didn't quite focus on Al as much as I expected, I did find it to be an exciting adventre/mystery with some truly terrifying creatures. The ending was packed with action, but the most memorable parts involved the characters sitting down and talking to each other, whether just to banter or to have more philosophical conversations.

Hearne's work is always charming and charismatic, but thoughtful and smart as well. I loved returning to the INK & SIGIL world and can't wait for more of it to continue.

Not for me. Despite the author's summary of the first book in this series, it was hard to understand exactly what was going on here and there was a lot of catching up to do as I read. With that plus the body humor, which is never my thing, I didn't enjoy this much.

Četli jste Kroniky železného druida a bavily vás?
