Unputdownable read! If you like Jurassic Park, you’ll love this

I picked this book from a “Best if Sci-Fi” list, to complete a step in the #ReadHarder challenge and it did not disappoint! I’ve always thought I wasn’t into sci-fi and im trying to broaden my horizons. This book was the perfect choice for me! I loved the characters, the world and as a kid who grew up on Jurassic park, this book was exactly what my adult self needed.

This is also the first book I’ve read set during the pandemic, and that was oddly satisfying? I’m really bummed to be done reading; being on Kaiju earth with our merry band of heroes was so fun! Miss them already

It’s a John Scalzi book. That means we get a likable and down on his luck protagonist who just needs his chance to shine. It also means we get delightful side characters, a well-constructed sci-fi world, witty banter, and zero chances that our heroes won’t succeed through a mix of cunning and sarcasm. It’s mental comfort food. My only complaint was that the story’s conflict didn’t kick in until almost 70% through. Thank goodness for the great world building and characters. I liked Fuzzy Nation a bit better.

Nice little light SF about someone laid off by the CEO where he’s an executive at the start of COVID who then, by a series of events, ends up with a job offer to work with kaiju on a parallel Earth. Equal parts hilarious and feel good, this little SF novel will keep you turning the pages and rooting for the good guys.

Nem emlékszem, hogy olvastam-e már olyan sci-fit, aminek ennyire cozy vibeja lett volna, de egyértelműen tetszett. Humoros, könnyed olvasmány, érdekes alapkoncepcióval.

I enjoyed the first half but the last 3/4 of the book was predictable.
