Purls and Potions

Lucy is trying to be a good witch but things always go wrong for her. She was trying to make a love potion but it was accidentally given to more than the person it was supposed to be. Her Vampire friends help her out when another dead body appears on the scene.

I really enjoy this series.

Lucy’s first love potion goes horribly wrong
Romances get tangled
But worse, someone dies!

Like everything that happen when she tries to use her powers something happens.

Again she found a body, at the theatre while she was helping a vampire friend that was partricipating in a play.
Since she needs to know if her potion is responsible for the death she decided to investigate.

this book follow the same template of the others.

I like this series because the stories are simple e very good to listen while doing something else.

She still in denial about her feelings for Rafe. I don´t like how she uses him and his friends when she needs and when he tries to demonstrate his feelings for her, she ignores.

This one was kind of cute in that it deals with a college theater doing Midsummer Night's Dream, and meanwhile Lucy makes a love potion that goes horribly wrong and has everyone becoming obsessed with everyone else - pretty much mimicking the play.

I will give this credit in that I didn't immediately guess the who of the whodunit this time, though there I also kind of found the resolution to be a little far-fetched.

I missed the vampire knitters, who were mostly absent from this book, with a few exceptions, like Silvia helping Lucy with her hair and makeup.

I was glad that
the to-be-date with Ian fizzled and Rafe finally kissed her at the end.  I'm not enamored with the love-triangle setup, and I'm sort of hoping that we're definitively leaning in one direction now... and it's the direction that I would want it to lean in.  Honestly, I'm tempted to look for spoilers for future books, because I don't want to get invested in this ship if it's going to sink.  But I've refrained, thus far...
.

Also, how many times does Lucy have to be told that she's a powerful witch before she stops acting surprised that literally everyone says it?

This is my favorite book in the series - the Shakespearean comedy of the love potion going awry was fantastic. I was laughing my way through most of this book.

SpoilerI do feel like it's a little bit of an un-earned out for her relationship with Ian, though. I get her being a little hurt, but ultimately he didn't have control of his actions and it was her potion, so it was at least partially her fault. I don't care too much, because I don't think it was ever going to work with Ian anyway - she can't be honest about the magical world with him, which means a real relationship is impossible. But I would have liked to see a more fair wrap-up of their fling.
