300 page slog for an 80 page bad ass payoff. still incredibly flawed but it pulled out a hell of a save for the finale. he needs yo work on expanding characterization in a big way.

world building in its own is as always awesome. we'll see if he fixes the issues by the second book.

Oh my gosh. This was hell of a ride. I mostly listened to the audio book since I find the writing style (in english and the german translation) too ... flowery to keep on going in my normal reading speed. Hitting about 30% I knew I was going to like the book and went to order the second book... and was spoiled for this book because of the synopsis *tableflip*. But it was still nice done plotwise even though I knew the ending of the first book. There were still conclusions that where hinted at but were shocking and exciting.

I tried so hard to like this book. But, I just couldn't. The characters, at least to me, our bland and utterly standard personalities. And I just simply could not take the villian's seriously. Maybe it was the names, or just that I couldn't get past the superhero that we all know with the tight pants and flowing cape. The only thing that I can give this book credit towards, is the undeniable amount of thinking proccess put into this book. The author tried very hard to make sure that everything was sound and made sense. Also, the author's world-building was quite amazing, I will say. But other than that, I just didn't like it. Hopefully, its just me, and everyone else loved it. ;)

I enjoyed this book very much. It's got lots of fun elements, some good humor, and touches of gravity that are given extra weight because of the lighter tone surrounding it. It's a good, page-turning read, and a lot of it kept me guessing all the way up until the action-packed and explosive ending.

It was really fun, guessing at the weaknesses of Epics, seeing how the world changed, and seeing the climate changes of the city. Loved it all. Wished we'd have more povs of the Epics though, sorely lacking there.

I enjoyed this book but if you like this premise, I actually suggest the webserial "Worm" as it's a bit more fleshed out and the power system is really cool.

An interesting, if not pessimistic view, of a scenario where regular people are suddenly given super powers, and those who fight against their tyranny. I'm interested to see where the series goes.

Very fun story. I love the villain and the world. It’s a great underdog story. Some of the humor is pretty cringey though and I wasn’t a huge fan of the main character or his love interest. The twists are great and I love the ending. It’s an excellent set up for what I think would be a great TV show.
