I ripped through this the same way I did the first book.

A few things did really really bother me though:

First, Celeste’s t shirts bugged me. I roll my eyes at people who wear things like that out in the wild and I couldn’t stop myself from doing them same every time I had to read whatever saying was on her shirt. It’s the type of stuff that I used to encounter in fanfictions and I really didn’t love it.

Second, I never like when books reference well known culture things like Starbucks, Uber, or tv shows. I feel like it is another element that I would see in fanfiction but I also feel like it can date a story.

Third, 4.5 year olds don’t communicate or process emotions the way Naya did and it drove me nuts.

With all of that being said, I really did enjoy this book. It feels extremely fantastical and has a world (and rules) that makes sense to me but it doesn’t feel so heavy. It almost had a cozy feel to me. I also liked seeing a more political side to Elysium. The first book was very heavily based in the real world and the switch was nice.

Overall, I am glad I read this book and I’m so excited to see how the series rounds out.

This book took me an abnormally long time to finish solely because I was completely wrecked by Feather (Book 1). And I think because of that, I just couldn’t connect with this story. I am attached to Jarod & Leigh still so much that I was not able to enjoy Celeste’s story with Asher. Great writing and on point with the authors style, I just didn’t love it as I did Feather.

For the better part of the book, Celestial was so angry, petty, and childish. I am not fully sure why. She had put so much of the blame on what had happened in the previous book on Asher rather than accepting the decisions that Leigh had made. It makes it so hard for me to find her to be lovable.
Nonetheless, I did enjoy this book more than I did the last. This whole story is so very different from other books that I have read. I look forward to the final book and conclusion.

4.5 ⭐️ - When I say this book broke my heart in the best way possible.. I was sobbing throughout much of it, with tears of both happiness and ache.I would’ve preferred Celeste to not be so angsty, but her anger is understandable. Overall well done and I’m excited to see how the story concludes in the final book.
