Never thought I’d be on the brinks of fainting while reading a short story dealing with amputation 😷.

An overall well written collection with a very memorable and famous short story, "Morphine".

I have heard enough grotesquely detailed doctor stories for a lifetime, so this wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. However, the last two stories about drug addiction and murder were the most tame and compelling to me.

Went from "lovely little essays about saving lives in the middle of the night" to "here's all about the horrors of morphine and war" all with Bulgakov's signature ironic levity. Very good
