'All-Star Batman, Volume 1: My Own Worst Enemy' by Scott Snyder may not be much like other Batman stories I've read, but it's an absolute guilty pleasure.

Batman has a chance to cure Two-Face once and for all, so they are on a road trip together. The Harvey Dent side wants this. The Two Face side wants to fight it, so it has arranged a reward for the person who can stop Batman and kill him. If they don't kill Batman, then Two Face will spill the secrets he knows about them. All of them.

The story weaves back and forth in time, and the miles are counted down as they go. It's an adrenaline fueled trip that would probably make an awesome movie, like the weirdest buddy picture ever. And we do find out the history that Harvey and Bruce Wayne have together.

The writing is great. The art is also great. The plot is mostly breakneck, and I just really, really liked this one.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from DC Entertainment and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

This took some getting used to, but when I accepted the shift in tone and voice, it was really a fun ride all the way through. The first arc has Batman trash-talking a slew of enemies while fighting them, getting chased by them in a different setting than we usually see him, and revealing a fascinating backstory about his history with Harvey Dent/Two Face.

I didn't know the new Bat-trainee, Duke, and I really don't like his costume, but I enjoyed getting to see him develop in the second arc of this collection.

First of all, I am trying not to hold the title against it. I love the title All-Star Batman, BUT not for an in continuity story. When I think All-Star, I think about the incredible 12 issues of Superman from Morrison and Quitely. I also think of the disaster by Miller and Lee.

This title is more or less Snyder continuing his Batman run, but in a less invasive manner. You can read this along with the other titles, or it could be read right after the final New 52 Batman title.

I enjoy Batman and Duke's chemistry and the last little arch on this trade is intriguing.

It starts with a diner, then glass shattering everywhere and it keeps going from there. The start of another novel I very much enjoyed. Interesting story lines, villains that are no match against Batman and some that make his day a nightmare. So much goes on and the intensity of it continues throughout the whole comic.

Two-Face makes an appearance in this one and he demands his moment in the spotlight. Of course, Batman comes to the rescue, having always to deal with these psychopaths with crazed agendas. And everyone out there who has ties or is a hired gun, goes out there searching for both of them, making Bats life even more chaotic.

It’s a fast-paced read, filled with twists and turns at every turn of the page and it goes like that for most of the novel. I was very pleased with the illustrations and the characters that were in this edition. As well as where the story lead and how it all tied back in with whom Two-Face really is.

This is one that I will for sure be adding to my collection once it is out. And wow does it quickly escalate and the scene gets more extreme, with a mob that is unrelenting. Loved every part of it.

The read is worth it just to see the artistry

Good story with Two Face but even more worth it is the artistry on display. Some of the images almost had a 3D feel to them. A lot of depth in the images and richness in the colors.

An interesting little tale that is interestingly illustrated, even if it feels like it needs a little more room to breathe.

Honestly it’s pretty great. Batman and Two-Face go on a 500 mile road trip to find a cure for Harvey Dent. But Two-Face has promised a fortune to anyone who frees him, so villains come out of the woodwork. It’s John Wick 3 but Batman.
