A game of thrones, to me, was a great introduction to the world of westeros. It had a good focus on building up the world and its history whilst also progressing the plot leaving to exposition being a welcome addition in order to learn about the world. Despite being a first book it had a surprising amount of stuff I wasnt expecting and it also led me to get more attatched to certain characters as i realised how real the stakes were. Even if you have watched the show the books have their own insight to some lf the characters and they allow you to see what they are thinking. Definitely recommend if you are a fan of fantasy.
