While the show was dynamic and well done, the book read more like a really dry history book. I actually didn't even finish it. I got a handful of chapters in and gave up. I love the story, but it's definitely more for visual media than for print. Good job, Mr. Martin, but I can't read this.

Mother of Dragons: having Dany be 13 was definitely a creative choice and one I didn't like 🤢.
Game of Thrones. You were written before I was born. My grandmother should have read this to me when we'd go to sleep at night because it's fucking amazing. Excuse my french.
I've managed to see very little of the show in anticipation of reading the books. I was expecting maybe a lot of hype, but I found the writing to be very good, the story intriguing and well-paced, and just a pleasure to read. The book was a much quicker read than I expected, and I'm already well into the second one.
i think i’m going to love this series, this was sooooo good for the first in a series but NOT the right book to read during exams because it took me far too long to read so only about 3.75 stars :(
