I am not super impressed with the storyline and character development in this one. Started off so strong with the attack on Tess, but it was downhill from there. And like god damn how many serial killers can hit this town in a year-ish period? I think this one is the most poorly rated, so I am hoping for good things in the next one or the Will Trent series.

What the fuck is wrong with Lena Adams? Her character just doesn't really make sense, especially her relationship with a white supremacist. I saw another review that described what happens to Lena in this book as torture porn and I agree. All of the books include something just completely brutal happening to her and I am over it.

Jeffrey and Sara's relationship is so great in this book and I really like their growth together. I did spoil for myself and I know that it won't last, which really sucks because I felt invested in them.

I love Karin Slaughter and the Grant County series so far, this one just felt more all over the place than the previous two, and her other work. Also, Lena needs to catch a break, this poor woman.

Definitely a lot going on but this being the third Slaughter book that I read in a row, the horrific crimes are getting a bit too much. As if there can’t be other crimes beside these horrific ones. Also I’m starting to mix up what happened to which character (from the previous books). Everybody’s sister is getting slaughtered, always in the most gruesome ways possible, a lot of blood HAS to be involved, etc. Every book has a couple of details that make me raise my eyebrows if not roll my eyes and I’m still no fan of most of the characters. But they’re still “easy”/fast reads. So yes, I will definitely continue the series (but I am reading other genres in between lol)
