Definitely one of my favorite audiobooks! the beautiful prose in this book really captivated me, I love how Becky Chambers writes humanity. For how short this book is I appreciate how full the characters feel. Which is an issue I have had with shorter books in the past.

Nice little book that dive, albeit not very deeply, into potential alien worlds and their accompanying flora and fauna.

I legit loved every page of this, but as it is in a lot of novellas, I would've been even happier with at least 20 more pages. Most of Becky Chambers other books have made me super emotional (like sobbing happy tears or catharsis or something) but this one didn't quite hit as hard. I still really, really enjoyed it, and if there was ever a sequel, I'd definitely read it.

Another beautiful ode to humanity, science and the skies by Becky Chambers!
I've loved all of her books that I've read so far, and while this one has probably been my least favourite, it is still delightful, as all of hers are! It follows a team of 4 astronauts from Earth and their cataloguing and observing of four planets that are being visited for the first time.
I was taken back by the rich descriptions of the places visited, the science behind it, both the technological advances making the astronauts able to do this, as well as the wonders they find on the planets.
This is also, as with all of Chambers's work, an ode to humanity, in all its beauty and flaws, all it's nuances. Nay, an ode to life in general, be it on this planet or another.
I really enjoyed the look at change and "metamorphosis" within humans and other species, other places. The mental metamorphosis gave me lots to think about, too.
At times the book was slow for me, especially the first planet, but it soon picked up and had me hooked!
I would recommend this if you like Chamber's other work, or speculative and reflective sci fi with a lovely dose of science.

How on earth (or in space) did a 135 page book make me sob so much ??
I will be thinking about this story and these characters foreverrrrr
