The story started out slow, to the point where I almost DNF, but I feel like that was part of the author's plan. Noni has become complacent with her life & the slow beginning mirrors that feeling. Once Noni gets to Europe the book really takes off & has a life of its own. While there is plenty of romance & sex, Noni's journey is really about finding out what she really wants in life.thefatpaperback's review against another edition

I can’t believe this book isn’t talked about more!! Noni is a fat, bisexual woman who takes herself on a quest to find pleasure in all areas of her life. She’s felt numb in her life as a teacher, best friend, and aunt, and is searching for happiness. Such a good fat read!! If you loved Shrill on Hulu, you’ll love Noni’s story too.
