Waters is a mad genius whose brain never stops. He is a very entertaining reader. I learned some new vocabulary words and will never look at brutalist architecture without chuckling. Will now re/watch some of his films. Patricia Hearst was in at least 2 -?

The first few essays were great! The last 3/4 of the book were not bad but perhaps required you to be more totally committed to the Filth Elder's brandâ„¢, which I was not.

Looks like this version is a book on CD, which I wish I had listened to, but it was fun reading the actual book.

This is just what you'd expect from John Waters: filthy, hilarious, and surprisingly practical.

Waters goes on his weirdest and most personal tangents so far. Unmissable.

This essay collection is about John Waters life choices and how to get through life, without losing that abject originality we all possess. Waters humor, wit and honesty are in full swing.....that why I love this guy. He loves the fringes , outsiders and double lines. He cast Divine, Mink Stole and Tab Hunter! This Know-It-All wants you to know it all, a lifesaver!
A must read in a sea of maybes.

I wasn't really a John Waters fan, but after reading this I definitely am. I remember seeing Pink Flamingos 30+ years ago and thinking, as most people probably do, "eww gross" and also "WTF?". I didn't really get into Hairspray, but my son liked it when he was younger so he used to watch it all the time. I had no idea he had made as many movies as he has.

The book was hilarious and probably more so because I did it on audio and he was the narrator. He talks fast so he packs in lots of details and his inflection just adds to it. You can almost picture the eyerolls sometimes. Being an eccentric myself, I felt an immediate bond with Mr. Waters, even though I don't feel like I would enjoy his movies, I do enjoy his creativity and I'm looking forward to reading/listening to some/all of his other books.
