I finally listened to all the folks saying this was really, really good. I'll add my voice to that.

I’m starting to feel weird giving ratings to memoirs, because every person writing one shows complete vulnerability in sharing their life through their lens. Jessica Simpson did a great job of capturing her entire upbringing, her struggles with self-esteem, alcohol and her addiction to love. I highly recommend listening to this on audiobook; you can hear the pain and vulnerability in her voice when talking about sensitive topics. She has a great sense of humour and genuinely seems like a good person. I’ve gained a lot of respect for Jessica after reading this, and I’m happy she has found her way.

What can I say? I love me some J. Simps!

If you're not a fan of 90s - 2000s pop culture/music and the faces that were so prominent back then, you most likely won't want to read this memoir. I'm not even sure what compelled me to want to read this other than the fact that I'm a nosy bitch. :) I love hearing more about people's lives, where they came from, their side of moments we've only seen dissected online, and the little details most us of don't know. Jessica Simpson is not a new name and most people know her from the 'Newlyweds' show or from her many blunders that branded her as a "dumb blonde." I just don't take anything for face value and wanted to see her take on all of that...and boy, did she deliver. Simpson doesn't hold back and tells you everything, including private details about her childhood and relationships that were kept secret up until now. It was very eye-opening and refreshing to hear her talk about these topics, and it made for such an honest read.

This memoir may not change you or even change your mind about her, but, if anything, it should help highlight just how true it is that you can't believe everything you see on the Internet. Without getting on a soap box about this, I would just recommend listening to the audiobook (on a faster speed than normal bc J. Simps does still have that slow southern drawl) and seeing for yourself why people are giving this high praise.

I went into this book not expecting much but I was wonderfully surprised. It was so honest I felt like I was listening to a good friend's conversation. I learned so much and reflected on myself. Please read this book. Its so good. Its written honestly and is really well written.

I love listening to Jessica tell her own story. She was honest. She was real. We received the raw version of her. Jessica admits she has a problem. She owned up to her faults. I would love to hear Nicks side of the story, but that will never happen.
