It was the answer to the ancient Prime’s words. To the Autumn King’s question of how, against every statistic blaring on Declan’s computer, they were even witnessing Hunt Athalar fight like Hel to keep Bryce Quinlan’s heart beating.
Through love, all is possible.”

HI I FINISHED READING HOUSE OF EARTH AND BLOOD FOR THE FIRST TIME. ITS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND I HAVE NO WORDS. No thoughts, just so many emotions. I’m obsessed with Bryce Quinlan and I love her so much. Bryce’s unwavering loyalty to Danika was so special and bittersweet. They are my favorite fictional friendship. Hunt and Bryce becoming friends to something more was so cute. The slow burn, the teasing, the protectiveness… just so good 🤌🏼😘 They are endgame and I won’t listen to anything else. I really enjoyed all of the characters. The way Ember cursed out the Autumn King. She was waiting for her moment for 20+ years! 😂 The last 600+ pages 🤯😭🥺❤️. I stopped and read parts over again to help my mind comprehend everything. Yes, I have House of Sky and Breath and I preordered the third book because I’m always prepared. I’m so excited for the next journey in Crescent City! 💙

If this didn’t connect back to ACOTAR then I would have DNF’d half way through out of boredom and frustration, but, alas.

I’ll be honest with you, the first 200 pages, maybe even 400 pages were hard. After re-reading Throne of Glass and ACOTAR so many times, it took me a while to adjust to all of the world building and new characters. The key trait that kept me going though was the murder mystery aspect. I wanted to know who, how and why for the whole situation. The characters took a while to warm up to, but I ended up really liking them. Hunt was my favorite out of the bunch, I enjoyed his thoughts and character growth. The themes of grief and loss were really strong in this one. Sometimes it hit really hard, and others it didn’t. That may be because I was just eh about Danika, but other than that I really enjoyed the personal moments of this book. Yeah the plot is interesting, but the characters are really the highlight of the novel.
Can’t wait to read House of Sky and Breath before House of Flame and Shadow comes out!

Bryce Quinlan is half-fae, half-human and quite honestly a mess. She’s reeling from a significant loss that happens early on in the book and trying to keep a grip on living. Hunt Athalar is an enslaved, assassin fallen angel who gets thrown into the mix of a curious investigation. The relationship development between these two was a delight to read. Definitely a slow burn but their friendship was my favorite part.
The rest of the immediate characters have vibrant and different personalities. I loved everyone, even the characters you want to hate.
There’s a fair amount of action that explodes in the last part especially. I couldn’t put the book down for the last 200 pages or so and had to stay up late to finish it.
I cannot wait to pick up the second book this weekend and dive back in to Lunathion.
