Grim, bleak, desolate, apocalyptic. Endzeitstimmung. No other words are needed to describe this novel, a dystopia par excellence. McCarthy weaves the story of a father and his son, stranded in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. The best parts are the conversations between our two main characters, being both heartfelt and utterly depressing. The ending packs quite a punch and left me hopeless. Well deserving of the Pulitzer it got. 5/5

Depressing and haunting. The metaphors this guy comes up with are breathtaking. An easier read than his westerns.

This book sucked me in, and I even came to like McCarthy's unusual writing style. But post-apocalyptic times are pretty dreary in general, and I found myself disappointed at how the book ends.
