I truly do not understand the hype with this novel. It physically pained me to finish this book. I listened to “One Italian Summer” as an audiobook, narrated by Lauren Graham, who is incredible but does not make sense for this role. I feel like I missed something with this book. It seemed to create a story and then tear it all down in a way that seemed like a cop out.

This one did a great job of making you feel like you desperately have to visit Positano, but that’s kinda it.
.
All characters were equally unlikeable and the author’s obvious privilege kept showing.
.
Disappointing, because the unexplained-meeting-and-hanging-out-with-your-mom-at-your-age idea coulda been so good!

Cute light hearted read. Loved the descriptions of Positano and it made me hungry for Italian food!

Probably the best book I’ve read so far this year. The vibes of this book were immaculate and it makes me want to travel to Italy even more. I’m not usually one for magical realism but in this book it worked for me. I loved the writing and how detailed everything was, i could picture every setting so clearly. The ending caught me by surprise in the best way and I think it ended beautifully. The only thing I would’ve wanted was a proper goodbye or conversation between Katy and Carol but other than that this book was perfection

The time travel portion is confusing really? I needed an explanation.

Also her mother sounds a bit overbearing and toxic at times. She needs some self reflection.

A skip, for me.

The year “twist” is impractical, and the way it ended was rushed in my opinion. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
