I loved this book even more than I expected to. Wren was a very flawed protagonist but in the best way possible. DeWitt did a great job of still making him likeable and understandable. Wren's point of view didn't feel generic, either. It was clear that we were getting his version of events and his worldview. The alloace rep was done wonderfully in a way that didn't make it all about that but spoke to the fears many alloace people share about romance. There were some good old romcom tropes but written in such a way they didn't feel contrived or toxic. I cannot gush enough about this book, it was so good. It was a cathartic read that gave me reasons to care about not only the romance, but more importantly, the characters themselves.

I HIGHLY recommend this book!

I really liked Wren and Leo and their relationship. DeWitt balanced the whole Buddy thing and their IRL relationship well, showing their connection on Buddy but also in real life as Wren starts to realize he was very wrong about Leo. A stand-out moment for me was that Leo rejected Wren at first and Wren accepted it, knowing he was wrong for how he treated Leo all that time. So after they do the Buddy reveal, them getting together made more sense.

I loved all the characters and they were written well enough to feel like humans with their good and bad parts. Honestly, Amanda DeWitt if you somehow read this, I would love to read a book from Ryan's point of view. Ryan was a favorite of mine, written in such a way that doesn't relegate to her only being Wren's Best Friend and nothing else. She had family, she had likes and dislikes, she has skills and passions. It was clear she had a life outside of Wren. Her realization of being aromantic (or at least, aspec since I don't think she directly labeled herself) and her dynamic with her seemingly a bit overprotective parents was interesting. Now, I'm just making a case for why she should have her own book.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by this book and I look forward to DeWitt's future works.

Cute story. Nothing special, but pretty enjoyable. The protagonist is infuriating but I’m pretty sure that’s on purpose. Probably only deserves 3.5 stars but I’m gonna give it 3.75 stars for the ace rep.

It’s because of books like these exist which is why I still pick up a YA book even though I am 26 years old. I LOVED this book and its set of characters SO MUCH! It was fun, crazy, full of teenage second hand embarrassment moments, thoughtful, giggles and laughter, best friends and long time and new crushes. You know when I love a YA book to its bits? When it shows the protagonist and its main side characters as real flawed teenagers who make mistakes but own and learn from them, with stories about how sometimes at a young age, one privileged and middle class teen can feel like The Atlas. It was about learning to move on from the difficult moments in life, with knowing that life will throw a curveball again but somehow we will learn to get up. Books are like these are a comfort!
