  1. Didn’t like the glaring lack of descriptions. Wren in ace, he’s not blind he can definitely describe someone’s general physical appearance
  2. The plot sucked. It was obvious that
    Leo was BB
because everything about this book is predictable, and the characters’s personalities aren’t charming enough to make up for the poor plot
  3. I feel like Wren’s asexuality was glossed over. He could’ve been allo and the book would’ve remained… the same? My opinion on this would’ve been different had
Leo also been asexual, but he isn’t, he’s allo, so shouldn’t they have had A Conversation about the fact that Wren, a presumably sex-repulsed asexual, will probably not want to do anything sexually intimate with Leo, who’s allo and presumably will want to have sex and stuff???
  4. The ace representation just felt very, very surface level idk!

It was cute!
At first Wren really annoyed me, and maybe it's just because im over the whole 'bitter, sarcastic teenager, who must hate the things their class mates enjoy' - but since I'm not really the target audience anymore I hestiate to judge too soon, but he was quite annoying and the first few chapters I didn't know if I should keep reading. It got better as it went along and as soon as he got to know Leo more, he mellowed out. The rest of the novel was simple and sweet with no real twists or that much tension, but sometimes that is just what you need!

I keep wanting to love DeWitt's work, but I am always underwhelmed by it. Though at times cute, this one was too predictable for my taste.

I loved the ace rep even though the book failed to show the spectrum of the ace experiences and what it means for romantic relationships.

The book never really caught me though. I never really got into it. The twists were blatantly obvious which I usually have no issue with but in this case it just took away the tension for me.
