I loved this book! I am so happy that Mary Hoffman kept the characters from City of Masks. It made the whole thing more complex, interesting, and AMAZING! (If you haven't read the book, don't read on) I was so happy when Georgia won the horse race! And everyone else in the Ram was happy too. But, I can't believe I'm saying this, I feel kind of bad for the Duke. I mean, he lost his thirteen year old son! It was really bitter sweet at the end when Falco soared over the crowd on Merla, the flying horse. But it was happy too because Ceasare got to ride in the race! However, I felt this moved slower than City of Masks and didn't have a really big climatic moment. Which is disappointing for me because I love big climatic endings. Any-hoo, I loved this book, I love this series, and I can't wait to read the next one!

Once again, Hoffman creates an intricate plot and introduces several characters while preserving a clear narrative. I absolutely love Georgia and how she's written. She's conflicted and not perfect without being moody and childish. It's a bit of a rollercoaster, but it's also such a feel-good book.

I honestly couldn't get into it. I liked the hints of Italy, but I really couldn't see the plot and I didn't think much of the characters.

Review for first four books: It has been a long time since I've read this book, but I remember I really enjoyed reading them back in the day. It was an original idea and fun to read. If you haven't I'd recommend you try it. But I do remember that by the time I was around the fourth book I thought it was getting a little too childish (writing style, wording and storywise). So maybe I've outgrown them by now. I've yet to read the last two books, I'm thinking about giving them a try.
