This book was quite unusual and not at all what I expected based on the cover and title. It’s my first novel by this author, and while I’m open to reading more of their work, the peculiar relationship between the main character and Gigi was just... bizarre. I had higher expectations after reading the synopsis, but unfortunately, the book didn't quite live up to them.

As usual a breezy beach read from Elin Hildebrand, this one was fun to read and engaging.

Hildebrand in general writes books that read as if the Gossip Girl books/characters grew up into their forties. Soapy and dramatic in the best way, her books are reliably a good time.

Good easy read. Lots happening, but ended good.

Disliked that chapters don’t start on a new page.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
A Five star weekend? More like Three. I am not to sure about this one. I had seen this book make its rounds on TikTok and various other social media platforms and figured I’d give it a go since it was free for check out at the library. I went in kind of blind, not totally oblivious through.
If I could sum up who I think this book is for, I think it’s for older moms with grown children who want a fiction book that has low to no stakes, and is mildly entertaining.
I enjoyed the ending, maybe like the last quarter of the book, when I think the resolution and everything coming together was decent, but anything before that was pretty mediocre in my opinion.
-1⭐️ For the college age, daughter. God this women was a B*TCH. She was acting like her own mom didn’t lose her husband. Crazy how Hollis was okay with her daughter disrespecting her like that. Even so, we get a tiny bit of resolution between them at the end, but she still not a good daughter. If the author was trying to make unlikable characters then OK, but it didn’t seem that way. It just seemed like she was a shitty person lmao.
Multiple women from different eras of your life coming together for a weekend getaway seems like such a fun plot. However; The plot/characters for this book felt like it was almost wasted…. They fell flat for me.
I think this book could have been better
