this is very interesting to reflect on. i really enjoyed the plot of this story and was pretty captivated the entire time. however! i really disliked almost every character in this book at one time are another. in that sense, it is a representation of the way that every person is flawed. i just definitely struggled with the contrast of loving the story and beefing with the characters. my favorite character was probably dru-ann; i think she is an independent and powerful woman, but she hasn’t experienced much love which has made her sharp and rough around the edges. she was right for standing up against posie 100%, the media just misconstrued what happened. as for the other characters, i am happy that brooke found herself and understands her identity, which is something i think will allow her to move past her issue with an obsessive need for validation. hollis experienced a lot of pain in losing her husband, but she handled a lot of situations (especially with caroline) very poorly. caroline treated her mother horrendously and showed no care or consideration for the grief her mother shared, only for that which she herself felt. tatum was okay but really irritated me with her long lasting grudges and her unsustained suspicions about kyle. and gigi… i do think she lives a cool life and probably was a good person, but it’s hard to look past the fact that she not only had an affair with matthew, but then proceeded to go to the five star weekend and embed herself in the part of his life she’d never known. it’s a crazy thing to think about. ultimately, i do think this was very well written, and while certain events were predictable, the flow was perfect and secret reveals were done at just the right time.

extra note: i started listening to this book on the way down to new orleans and then i finished it on kindle which was a fun little transition
