Untouchable (IAD #7):
I think this is my favorite of the two novellas in the series. Murdoch and Daniela were intense and I was completely insatiable over them when I was completely devouring this novella. Daniela is half Valkyrie half Ice Fey, who because of her Fey heritage cannot be touched at all, everyone that touches her that isn’t one of her kind makes it feel like she is being burned alive. Resigned to her fate to always be alone and untouched, Daniela doesn’t expect to find herself in the company of the great Murdoch Wroth, least of all being his bride.

I’m starting to realize that I have a thing for romances with anti-monogamous/anti-commitment alpha heroes who then falls head first in love and because monogamy’s number one supporter. 300 years as a vampire has made our once human playboy, Murdoch, a born again celibate; but the time has finally come for Murdoch and he has found his bride in Daniela–but the universe is a bitch and he can’t touch her. The irony had me maniacally laughing.

I loved watching these two navigate their relationship and learning what a relationship truly is. Kresley Cole makes nods to beloved characters of old as she intertwines new information about the Lore with the budding romance of our main characters just in time for Christmas.

Tempt Me Eternally (Alien Huntress #4.5):
This story was wild! I didn’t realize that this was taking place in the middle of a series when I jumped into the story after Untouchable (me auto assuming instead of reading the back of the book or the synopsis), but holy crap on a cracker was this a whirlwind of a story. We’re given a story about Aleaha, who for all intents and purposes can shapeshift into another person after a single touch of skin to skin contact. After a bad case of mistaken identity, Aleaha finds herself on a mission with AIR (Alien Investigation and Removal)--the one people she should be avoiding–as one of their own. Tasked with giving an eviction notice to some otherworldly soldiers who have made Earth their new home, she and her team believe its going to be just another typical day at work. That is until Aleaha finds herself at the mercy and hands of Breean, the commander of alien soldiers–and he has his eyes set on her.

I adored this novella (though totally not novella length)! Aleaha and Breean had me swooning all over the trunk of my car as I listened/read during my lunch breaks at work. The dynamic between the two of them were so vastly different yet complimented each other in such a beautiful way that I couldn’t not root for them.

Aleaha is this badass who doesn’t know exactly what or who she is and just desperately wants to be herself–at least the amount she does know. I found myself relating to her character the most throughout this entire novella and by the end I was wishing for more of her. Breean is just hot and I don’t know what else to say about him that won't make me sound like a creeper.

Honestly, this was a great story and I’m excited to read the rest of the series in hopes to get a better sense of the world and the characters surrounding Aleaha and Breean!

Review for IAD #8 only

Loved the characters and the premise of the story. It was enjoyable to see the character interactions but the ending did feel a little rushed and too easy.

I only read the Kresley Cole story. Probably three-and-a-half stars. Overall I liked it but felt parts were a bit rushed or told rather than shown.

This rating is just for Untouchable by Kresley Cole.

4.5 stars.

I love this story, it's Murdoch's and Dani's romance, and while Murdoch is at times a bit annoying, I still love him. Untouchable mostly weaves through the three other Wroth brother's stories and it, obviously, follows Murdoch and Dani. This was especially an unique take because Dani, who is an ice maiden/queen, can't be touched without being hurt. It made for some interesting encounters with these two.

The audiobook is wonderful, as are all of the audiobooks in this series.

Definitely don't pick up Deep Kiss of Winter unless you've already taken a deep dive into the Immortals After Dark series (like I have). This story focuses on the vampire warrior Murdoch Wroth of the Wroth brothers, and the timeline intersects with the other Wroth books in the series.

Murdoch is just fine without ever finding his bride, his fated mate. But of course, as soon as he's admitted this to himself, boom. He finds his mate. And oh what a mate she is.

Daniela is part Valkyrie and part Ice Fey, meaning she cannot be touched by any one BUT an Ice Fey, lest she be burned. She's beautiful, ancient, and longing for a man to fulfill the desires she's only read about in her erotic romance novels. Murdoch fits her every specification, minus the fact he's hungry for her blood and a mere touch of his lips can bring agonizing pain.

As they try to to live as lovers without actually touching they also have to contend with the fact Danii might also be the Queen of all the Ice Fey, and Vampires need not apply.

I enjoyed reading this, and found it very sexy, but also just didn't quite buy it when Murdoch actually "fell" in love but oh well. Still liked the edging, sexual tension with the "we can't touch." OH and there was definitely some fun times with an icicle. o.O

I'm not a fan.

Kresley's story:

Characters - I would have loved for better chemistry between them. Loved to have read and discovered a new species with different powers though.
Story - I thought the part where she finally returns to her homeworld could have been worked on a little more. The dilemma ended/ resolved rather quickly.

Gena's story:

Characters - Their chemistry was instant and likeable. Having not read any of her previous books in this series, I thought the characters took in their situation in a new environment rather too quickly. Aliens with powers, hmm, interesting.
Story - It's interesting I suppose. I have never really read any romance novels involving aliens and it took some getting used to.

I was really excited for this book (novella?) because I was intrigued by the premise of a half-Valkyrie, half-Icere Fey who cannot touch others without pain. This story takes place over a longer period of time - we know from The Warlord Wants Forever (a prequel novella to the IAD series) that Murdoch's heart was beating... and this story spans to past when all of his brothers find and settle down with their mates.

I'm only reading Kresley Cole's story . . . I'll have to check this out again once I get caught up on Gena Showalter's Alien Huntress series.

I loved Murdoch & Daniela's story. Love those Wroth brothers :)
