This feels like a really good summer read, the cover is stunning and gives off the perfect vibes for the book.  The narrator was amazing, his voice was perfect and he really brought the characters to life.

As someone who isn’t a fan of love triangles (mostly because they are just two people pining after one person and not an actual triangle) this was a nice touch to it.  Harry meeting someone new and clearly having good chemistry with from the start.  It was healthy and cute.  Then there was Harry’s ex who, well, was less of a favorite of mine.

Overall this was a cute summer read and I really enjoyed how everything turned out in the end.

I had a lot of trouble loving this book about an aspiring teen writer navigating his dreams and relationships, but it seems interesting. I enjoyed the characters and their relationship development. I didn't enjoy the high levels of self-pitying drama, the screenplay chapters that didn't add anything to my understanding of the characters, or the use of being drunk as a major plot point more than once (which felt lazy).

What a great read to get out of a slump! It was fast-paced and well written which had me feeling for the characters. A great debut and a perfect YA read. It follows Henry who is spending his summer writing a screenplay for a contest to attend USC, his dream school. Over the course of the summer, he runs into old flames and potential new romances who distract him from his goal but lead him down a path that is maybe more well-suited for him!

I have to say that Henry was my biggest problem with this novel. He was at times a little much for me and his characterization plus the overall writing was maybe too reliant on references. Plus, at times so of the tertiary characters felt like they were just there because a character needed to say something rather than them feeling accurate.

What I really enjoyed was the pacing. Henry has 2 main love interests and another who was a dark horse. I thought it was clear who Henry would end up with but I liked him coming to that conclusion, us seeing why that felt like the “right choice”, and the romance that followed. It was the perfect amount of page time to spend on these things without dragging anything out. The drama felt very juvenile but this is a YA story about teenagers finding themselves so it didn’t bother me as it may have in other YA stories I have recently. I would love to see a 5 to 10-year check-in with Henry in the future to see where he ends up because I feel he makes a very rash toward the end and I think that would be interesting to follow.

Started off a little slow, but picked up and got very sweet and pretty captivating. Just great to read a queer rom com with NO homophobia at all.

This was a pretty adorable summer rom-com, and is a perfect beach read. It has all the summer vibes that you could want. If you want something that isn't going to surprise you and follows a general romance formula, this one is also for you!

I was entertained while reading this, the only thing that threw me off a bit was the screenplay chapters. While I loved the general concept, they were a little difficult to follow in audiobook format. That being said, the narrator for the audiobook was great and I would definitely listen to something by them again!
