I recently read this book for the first time. I really enjoyed it. It has the classical feel of a children's fairytale (a series of small adventures). I was surprised how different it was from the movie! Gasp*! What a shock! the book is different from the movie! The Good Witch from the North is fat! Over all an enjoyable read.
This was a cute fun paced read. I loved how it brought me back to when I first heard of the wizard of oz.
These first fives tales are surely whimsical and, yes, a touch weird. The strength is definitely in the characters and world created.
