Marvelous story of a scholarly woman. Resonates with reality of a woman suppressed by a man. So much still holds true today.

"Prehaps by the time you are old enough to marry the world will hear a woman's voice. Prehaps she will not have to swear to obey in her wedding vows. Prehaps one day a woman will be allowed to both love and think."

I found this quite boring. If all seemed to focus on the religious reforms and Henry not being able to make up his mind. Katherine was quite lucky to be honest.

I did not finish this book.
I guess I have gone off Phillipa Gregory. I tried with White Princess, and I tried with this one and I am just not getting into the books. They are not grabbing me the way they used to. Perhaps I will revisit it later or try on audiobook.

As you can probably tell, I’m going through a bit of a Philippa Gregory phase at the moment, and The Taming of the Queen did not disappoint! After reading the books containing the perspectives of all of Henry VIII’s wives, Kateryn Parr has to be one of my favourites, and it surprised me that she’s the least known. I thought the plot itself was fantastic, and I was hooked throughout the 450-odd pages, easily. There are only two reasons why I’m docking a star. One: at times it was a tad repetitive - but then I guess getting rid of your wives does become repetitive by the time you’re on your sixth. Two: I wanted to know more about his death! As the audience, we knew it was coming - but it was like a footnote! After reading four books and watching the atrocities committed, you want to know more about his death! So I was really disappointed at that.
