Honestly I really wanted to like this book because I always enjoy a gay or sapphic cheesy love story especially in a cozy winter Hallmark style book. But I just couldn't get into this one. I had to keep pausing the audiobook to listen to podcasts instead because it kept making me zone out at work so it took me way longer than I thought to get through even after boosting the audio speed.

First of all I just I really disliked Morgan and never came around to liking her even though she was the main character. I hated her POV so much that it made me wish this had alternating POVs like most romance books tend to.

I didn't enjoy the sex scenes and dirty talk thought they were all pretty cringey. Personally I enjoy spicy scenes usually but these ones didn't really hit.

I wasn't invested in any of the characters or their conflicts. Most of the characters were annoying and felt one dimensional. Plus their conflicts were boring and lacked depth. Especially seeing as most of the conflict centered around an honestly really dumb high school argument.

I thought the ending itself was good but the epilogue kind of ruined it. I think it should have only been a proposal or a wedding. Forcing a surprise wedding in like a minute after the proposal just felt too rushed and not special or romantic at all.

Your typical queer holiday romance, complete with big city transplant rediscovering love for her small mountain town as she works to save its charm. I wound up hating the last 2 hours after feeling so-so on the rest of the book. The drama explosion that happened was a little much. I also got tired of the narration "right where I needed her" during every intimate scene. It was cute once. Then it became redundant and irritating.

This isn’t a reflection of the book itself, but the audio narrator also pronounced latke as “lot-key,” which derailed me for several minutes.
