Overall, I quite liked the story. A bit challenging to dig into the character at first with the format of repeated flashbacks. I warmed up in the second half and encourage anyone on the fence to push through. (And the second book even more.)

Enjoyed the premise behind the book. Found the style hard to get used to at first but after the first 20%, I found myself warming to it. Looking forward to the next one!

Original idea, engaging story. I just sometimes miss the connection to the protagonist, whose motivations I can't always follow (but so neither can she herself, really). Interesting use of pronouns that encourages thought about the standard use of 'he'.

I read this before and gave it 4 stars so I'm mostly blaming my tired brain for not being able to follow it this time around. A benefit-of-the-doubt 3 stars.
