Once again, Alexander McCall Smith has written a book with the perfect combination of light-hearted joy and heartfelt emotions that brought me to tears.

Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Loveable characters: Yes

It seems like I enjoyed this one much more the second time around. Precious Ramotswe is just a wonderful character. She's smart, compassionate, wise, thoughtful and clever. So refreshing.

I think it's time to let this series go, Alex.

This book was about nothing, and ended as abruptly as they all seem to do. The great mystery gets dragged out for most of the book and then is suddenly solved.

Although I am a fan of this series, I must say that this installment is a dud. It rambles on and restates musings from previous books so often, I could barely stay awake while reading. Snoozer.

Wonderful addition to Mma Ramotswe so humane and cheerful, wonderful pick me up when life is hard or sad.

As usual, these short tales are easy to read and a delight and antidote to the travails and horrors of our modern-day world. Mma Ramotswe is "salt of the earth" and so down-to-earth that you feel you could tell her anything and get a hug of encouragement. She looks at life with a positive, can-do attitude and sees the good in almost everyone, except for some really bad guys like abusers; murderers; corrupt leaders; and flashy, empty, unscrupulous women to name a few. I love these books for their simple, home-spun wisdom. We could use a Mma Ramotswe in the real world today.

I love this series. So sweet and delightful. I love the characters with their very good hearts. A little mystery to solve in a lovely setting. Anytime I need a literary pick me up I reach for one of these.

I’m not sure if it’s me or McCall Smith, but the #1 Ladies Detective Agency books have lost a little magic over the years. Still, a nice mellow book that would be perfect to read under the shade of a nice tree.

I am enjoying a return to the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency series after a long break. I have also learned to savor the life lessons and development of the character relationships in addition to the investigation or primary event in each book. In this case, it was interesting to consider the idea of a vacation by those who are used to working without a frivolous break. The relationship between the main characters grow more complex and nuanced.
