I love these books. They are light, good humoured and fun. The nasty people always get their just desserts and there are always some quotable sentences on the wonderful Botswanan outlook on life, the world and everything. But before you get the impression the books have no substance, the very serious and grown up topic of Aids is covered in most of the books. In this particular story we also read about prostitution and an abandoned child. Then there are the lesser worries of misunderstanding the intentions of a good friend. But in the world of The Number One Ladies Detective Agency never fear; all comes good in the end and I would feel very hard done by if it didn’t.

MUST STOP LISTENING TO THESE NOVELS. The magic is gone. MMa Ramotswe is going to take a holiday or should I say staycation. But she doesn't know what to do wit herself. There's actually several minutes of MMa Ramotswe cleaning out her pantry. And then it gets worse. The mystery is tiny, the over analysis and rehashing is over the top. I promise to not read any more.

A new book in this series means it's time to unplug the phone and ignore the family and sit down on my holiday trip to Botswana. The book doesn't disappoint, starting out simmering (the main case isn't revealed until about 40% or so) and working into a full boil.
The bittersweet ending was very moving and was I think the best of the series.
