This story took me for a wild ride. It’s Girl, Interrupted and The Bell Jar and all those stories of women gone mad, but in the setting of a grotesque family drama. The only part that disappoints me - Kang doesn’t give any life or any thoughts to Yeong-bye. Who is she, what is she thinking, and how does she feel as this story progresses? Why is she simply a doll?

Such a weeeeird little book.
Did I enjoy it? Not really.
Did I learn anything from it? Not really.
Did I understand it entirely? Probably not.
I'm glad I read it and doing so was certainly an experience, but i'm not sure i'd recommend it.

So many trigger warnings to pack into 183 pages. Violence, mental illness, rape, fantasy.
Disturbing, thrilling, tense, sad, peculiar.

Raises more questions than it answered. Hard to know how to feel about this one.

I read this in one session. I have no idea how to articulate this book.

Well, it’s dark. Very dark. And…intense. Boy, was it intense. Make sure to read the content warnings; you’ll need it.
