The two stars are mostly for the Evangeline POVs, Julian, less whining from Mare about how 'special she is', some characters finally calling out Mare and the amusement i get from Cal not being able to grow a spine for the life of him. The rest was just deeply okay. This book could've been way shorter and, truthfully, if it wasn't for my stubborness in finishing books/series, i probably would've DNF'd this series after [b:Red Queen|22328546|Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)|Victoria Aveyard|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1449778912l/22328546._SY75_.jpg|25037051], and most definitely after [b:Glass Sword|23174274|Glass Sword (Red Queen, #2)|Victoria Aveyard|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1436460934l/23174274._SX50_.jpg|42720997].

So happy to be done with this chunky mass of boredom. The only good part was the epilogue because it made me dislike Cal so much.

It was so sad to confirm that Maven was made this way because of his mother’s interference, but we already knew that. However, what’s worse is that Maven cannot or will not change his ways. His feelings for Mare were could have saved him, but they were instead twisted into obsession.
I love the sweet little moments of Mare and Cal here and there, it was a nice way to break up some of the sad or difficult stuff.
I also really liked the relationships Mare was able to start building with the other newbloods. I hope we get to see even more interaction with Kilorn but especially Farley. I think they could be a lot of good for each other.
On to the final book!

It had some good moments but overall not much happened for a good section of the book. I think it took up to 65-70% for the pace to change? The boy king is insufferable. Ugh I hated that the majority of this book is with him.
I like that the characters are very real. They seem so complex and have so many faults. They do very real things, actions. I think that’s what I like best of this series. However… there isn’t much growth happening but there’s one more book. Maybe they’ll all be changed after.

Quite interesting building up, but I felt all the book, except maven parts or a little bit of the final pages where just preparation, "War Storm" is coming, and there no one's safe, hope it is as good as it is promising to be.

Ahora si. AHORA SI.
