SYNOPSIS:
  • There’s a big snow storm in the town of Silver Ridge, Colorado. A group of folks end up stuck together in the town’s library.
  • There is an altruistic librarian, an unhoused drug addicted man, an older, cynical woman, a teenage girl that no one can figure out, & a security guard that likes to read.
  • As the night goes on, we see there’s more to all of the characters beneath their surfaces.

MY THOUGHTS
  • This was an easy, quick read.
  • I enjoyed the writing style. Multiple POVs. Switched between Nora (the librarian), Marlene (older woman), & Lewis (unhoused man). There are some flashbacks/memories to prior moments, as the majority of book takes place on this one night.
  • Major Breakfest Club vibes.
  • There are some heavy topics throughout the book, such as losing a parent, drug addiction, loneliness, etc. For that reason, I would recommend starting the book when you are in the right head space for it.

TL;DR: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️quick read. Breakfast Club vibes.

Five people are snowed in during a record setting snowstorm. Stuck in a library together, nothing happens. Yet everything changes.
This book made me feel things I haven’t felt in a while and choked me up toward the end. I was worried the ending would be trite or “neat” and it was sheer perfection. The writing is impeccable. Descriptions are poetic and beautiful. I literally don’t know that there was anything I hated. This book is as close to perfect as it gets.

This book goes to show that you can't judge a book by its cover and you never know what's going on in someone's life. The characters drew me in and I enjoyed getting to know them. I really enjoyed that a good portion of the book was dedicated to what happened after the snowstorm. It wasn't just focused on the one night, but continued the character development and relationships.
