I really enjoy short stories but don't read them enough. I should!

This was excellent. Its basically 'be careful what you wish for'

It reminded me of the Richard Matheson short 'Button Button' that was made into a twilight zone episode and the movie 'The box'.

I didn't find the characters likable one way or another-- but the original monkey's paw, with nothing at the end-- that is something that will stick with me. It can be supernatural or purely coincidence, but whichever it is doesn't matter.
