I had no idea how much I was going to love this book, so far one of the best of the serve series
Frankie is just so amazing and Porter is just so emotionally fucked up from his upbringing

There is a certain amount of suspension of disbelief that one has to do to read an erotic romance, but this.... pushed the limit.
It's previously established in the other books that Jonah pays heavy attention to everything that goes on at Serve and there are severe penalties for those who break his rules- you mean to tell me that he's not 1. aware of and 2. angry about Monocle Man here sceneing with this total newbie- who isn't even authorized to be there- without negotiating with her? Knowing that she definitely wasn't the sub he was supposed to be sceneing with? And then brings her back several days later as a guest- to which Jonah calls him to raise a red flag and then just.... takes his word for it that everything is fine?

There's a point later on where he knowingly pushes her past her limits but doesn't stop because she doesn't safeword- as a dom, particularly an experienced dom with an inexperienced sub, it was his responsibility to be *paying attention* and caring for her when he started to notice that something might be wrong- she seems to leave every scene with him traumatized and yet somehow begging for more. Frankly this man has no business domming any scene, let alone with an inexperienced sub. And that's not even getting into the possessiveness and violence this man wants to visit upon her own male relatives for checks notes talking to her and being a man in her general vicinity. It's ridiculous. Are straight people okay? These people are not good for each other and also this guy was a tertiary antagonist in a previous book and already described as kind of a bad dom/definitely not someone beginners should scene with and yet here he is traumatizing this woman and continuously fucking up

Sure, I understand that sometimes there are fantasies of that dangerous, possessive, kinda toxic guy but this isn't it

2 stars only because Tessa Baily is a talented writer and the characters were believable people and the scenes themselves were all well written, even if the male lead was a terrible person who should under no circumstances be in a relationship of any kind without lots and lots of therapy

Driven by Fate by Tessa Bailey is the fifth book in the Serve Series, though each book can be read as a standalone. You do not need to have read any of the other books in this series, though if you have read them you will recognize some familiar faces. I always look forward to reading a new book by Tessa Bailey because I know that it will be super hot and filled with steamy scenes are dirty talking heroes every time. Tessa Bailey has never disappointed me yet, and Driven by Fate is no exception.

Frankie De Luca doesn't like owing anyone, which is how she finds herself at an adult club called Serve that caters to it's members sexual desires. When her curiosity gets the better of her, she finds herself entering a room under false pretenses in order to experience something she has been fantasizing about. Porter is used to having strict control of everything in his life but when a woman other than one he was expecting shows up, he can't help but find himself drawn to her. After their brief time together Porter isn't ready to let Frankie go, so he offers her a deal to work for him during the day and pay her debt down faster and to explore the passion between them after hours. Though Frankie is reluctant at first, she decides to accept and see what it's like to submit to Porter.

I liked Porter and Frankie okay, but I didn't find myself overly invested in them. I just never really connected with them, but that didn't stop me from enjoying their story. Porter had been so used to having everything in his life neat and orderly and he was always in perfect control. Frankie was the exact opposite, and I loved how different they were. They instantly felt drawn to one another though, and I really enjoyed seeing Porter loosen up a bit with her. Frankie was feisty and was able to dish it out as well as take it. I loved how she was able to submit to Porter, but that she also wasn't a doormat. She gave it right back to him and kept him on his toes. She was quick witted and I really loved the banter between these two. They were extremely hot together, and the chemistry between them was insane.

I think that Driven by Fate might have been one of Tessa's hottest books to date. I loved the sexy scenes with these two, and the dirty-talking was fantastic as always with one of Tessa's books. Though I didn't personally connect with these characters, I did like their story. It was a great book and I enjoyed reading it. I really don't think that you can read a book by Tessa Bailey and not enjoy it. She is a fantastic writer that always creates such unique characters. Her books are so easy to get lost in, and this one just proved why she is an auto-buy author for me. I am really enjoying the Serve series, and I think that if you are looking for some super hot erotica with a great story that you should definitely check this series out. I can't wait read more in this series and from Tessa Bailey in the future.

Frankie deluca (Francesca) (cab driver) porter (Monacle man) (has security business in London but started a antique business and also is writing a book)
Safe word: beetle juice
Ahhhh Frankie is the girl who the Preston’s gave the scholarship to for school!!! Frankie makes an appointment with Jonah telling him it’s about his daughter. But she tells him she’d like to pay the Preston’s back and know they won’t take it so she’d like to give him the money for his daughter to use for a charity or for college. He tells her he’ll hold it under one condition, if she ever needs it, she takes it back. When she leaves she sneaks into a room. It’s porters room. Porter is who eliza was originally going to hook up with until Oliver snatched her away. Porter had plans with someone else but pretended like he didn’t know that when Frankie came in. He was entranced by her eyes. He bossed her around and she made comments back. He spanked her and then she said thank you for pretending and put her clothes on and left. His actual sub comes in and he tells her to wait as he chases after Frankie. He asks her what she’s doing here and she confesses to feeling indebted to Oliver Preston and how she wants to repay him through Jonah. She finishes her pop and goes to leave and he chases her to a cab where she gets to the drivers side and confesses to be a cap driver, her car is named Delta Burke. He tells her he has a proposition. She come and work for him as his accountant and then at 5, no more work, she spends the evening pleasing him. And that he’ll double what she makes driving cab. She says she’ll give it a one day trial to make sure she doesn’t feel like she’s getting paid for sex and he says a week. He tells her this won’t be forever that he leaves for London to run a company so this won’t be a forever thing. We find out that her uncle who took her in is why she drives cab, it’s his business, and she owes him a debt. She tells them the reason she won’t be driving cab is because she has an internship. When she gets to Porters, it’s his house but he tells her the office is upstairs. She asks if she can call him lord instead of sir, that she doesn’t want to be like everyone else. He shows her what her work will be and also sends her a file over of her hard limits for her to go through. Once it hits 5 she comes over to him and he tells her to strip he has one more phone call to make. She strips but then runs away and he realizes the mistake that he made. She’s a beginner and he threw her out to drown. He chases her down and tells her he warned her he’s not a beginners class and she says maybe that’s what she needs. He asks if she wants to be forced into submission and she says yes. So he tells her she can have a 10 second head start to run from him and when he catches her he’s holding her down and fucking her. He finds her in the bedroom but she takes off again and he grabs her and restrains her with his belt against a pole. He sinks into her against the pole. And she tells him faster and harder, she wants it rough. We know porter was in the army and then he created his security firm in London. Something happened with a partner to give him a bad rep with that business. They had agreed for her to come back the next day but then she calls to tell him she can’t so he tells her he needs a cab. He gifts her a cab model. We also find out he’s been writing a book. He has a meeting and when he comes back out she says she’s looking for a fare that will get them out of town. They end up picking up a man who reminds her of a cop and he seems wary of porter. He makes a comment about how he doesn’t like when his wife goes out at night because of cabs but he’d feel better knowing she had her. She doesn’t tell him about her business idea but hands him her business card. She had confessed to porter her business idea is for there to be a line of woman cab drivers who only drive woman so that the cab drivers are safe and the woman needing rides are safer. He thinks she’s brilliant. After they drop off the cop, she calls him sir and he has her pull over where he punishes her with his cock and demands that she only call him lord. Frankie had told porter at one point she hadn’t expected to like this as much as she did that she wants a big family someday and she knew that scared him. She knows she needs to distance herself from him and not get attached because he can’t provide her the other things that she wants. She finds out her uncle hasn’t worked in 7 weeks and she needs to find away to start her business up, pay back Preston’s and keep their house. We find out Porters partners name is Nevel and he didn’t sweep an airport properly and there had been hidden explosives nearly killing them all, 2 years ago. That was the scandal with his company. Frankie comes to the office and he tells her they’re going on a field trip. He had gotten a call from Jonah saying Frankie was approved for temporary access to serve and he’s going to take her there. Frankie noticed he’s shutting her off but tries to ignore it. When he straps her into a bench with shackles and tells her people can see her on the other side of the room as he used a flogger on her. She kept trying to break through to him but it was no use. He showed her there was no one over there and she said beetle juice and left. A few days later he sees her playing hockey with another man and is upset. He now knows how she got the scars on her knees. They go back to her house where she tells him she’s still mad at him. But she tortured him when he tells her he won’t touch her til she allows it and she makes him make out with her until she allows more and then she suck’s his dick until she hears voices downstairs. She stops but then he puts her on the bed and fucks her and says he’ll do what he wants to her even if people are home. And that he plans on introducing himself after. He tells her he has a meeting tmrw night and was going to ask her and she figures he’s not asking her now because she told him no when he asked her to stay the night at his house. But she tells him she’ll go with him. She invites him to stay for spaghetti but he tells her he has to go. He watches her as the head of the house. Feeding everyone and talking to a child and he knows this is what her future is supposed to look like. He leaves and she follows and he realizes she thought he was leaving for good. He tells her he’ll still see her tomorrow. She’s waiting for him at the airport and they both confess to missing each other. He tells her she’s not getting kissed until they land because she had been showing off her thighs in that dress. While on the plane she confesses to having a gift for him, a Billy Joel record that had been her mothers. And he hands her his legal pad where he’s been writing his thriller novel. He tells her he enjoys doing it but doesn’t want it to become a task. She tells him it’s really good and they kiss. When they get to the hotel he’s checking her in and he sees a man talking to her and standing too close. She asks him to back away and he doesn’t. Porter is pissed and headed that way but she manages to keep him calm long enough for the man to go. When they get to their room, there’s the man again, struggling to get into his own room that’s right beside theirs. And she has an idea. She keeps the latch on their door but unlocks it enough for 2 inches to see through. They’re going to put on a show and show him who she belongs to. They do. And she finds it primal how Porter claims her in front of the man. Porter shuts the door and tells her it’s time for just them. He’s inside of her and realizes he’s not using a condom. He can’t get her pregnant. He can’t trap her with him. There’s a part of him that ones to but he would fail a family. He lashes out at her and realizes she’s crying. And she tells him she’s on the pill and he doesn’t understand why she’s still so upset and she tells him he just accused her of trying to trap him. Porter had realized he’s in love with Frankie but he is not good enough for her. And watching her cry is breaking him. And he had basically accused her of trying to trap him but he had meant it as him trapping him. He wants to comfort her but she’s escaped to the bathroom. He begs her to open the door and she tells him when he was on top of her she was thinking if she could just have him laying with her every day maybe she could give it all up. The dream of a family and kids. But she tells him after hearing him say that to her she realized what she was willing to give up: so thank you for helping her realize that. “You’re thanking me for driving you away.” He gets a call that his meeting has been moved sooner and Frankie hears it. He asks if she’ll be gone when he gets back and she tells him she will be, this is goodbye. He begs her to let him know when she’s safe, he hates that she’s traveling alone. And then he goes to meet with Nevel. Nevel tells him they have someone requesting Porter personally and that he needs to come back with them. He hadn’t planned on Porter bringing one of his loose ends with him. Porter had banked on getting glimpses of Frankie but now he’ll be back in London and she’ll still be here. Frankie has buried herself in work to try and run away from the memory of Porter. And then her uncle shows up and tells her he saw her log and that she looks like crap. She tells him about Frankie’s fleet that that’s what her presentation will be about and he tells her how proud her mother would have been of her. And how empty the house would have been without her all these years. It’s the day of Frankie’s presentation for Frankie’s fleet. She swears she sees Porter coke in but after her presentation is over, he’s gone. She runs out the doors but doesn’t see anyone. She spends an hour answering questions and gets an A. Her professors even offer to invest in her business. When she gets home there’s a beautiful rose colored, antique taxi in front of the house that says Frankie’s fleet. She asks her uncle if he did this and he says not him. She goes inside where Porter is making spaghetti in the kitchen with the child. He tells her he’s realized that he loves anything that makes her happy. And that they can start a family and he won’t make her give up any of her dreams. Because of her he now knows what love is and that he’s capable of it. She takes him back. In the epilogue it is one year from the day she came into his room at serve and got her first spanking. Frankie’s fleet now has over 100 antique taxis that they found in barns and fixed up. Joe does the payroll. She has over a hundred woman drivers, some share the cars. He comes to see her in her office and tells her what today is. And asks why his wife is still taking her birth control every morning. He’s ready to start a family with her. And she tells him she’s not ready to share him yet. When he buries himself inside her she tells him she quit taking her pill this morning, she knew today marked a year since they met. And it ends with him buried inside her, saying forever. I really loved Frankie and porters book. I love that they got to have a story in this. We got the small glimpse of Jonah. Mention of Oliver and Eliza. We had already been introduced to Porter because of eliza and introduced to Frankie because of Oliver gifting her the college grant. So seeing it full circle was nice. I loved their chemistry. Porter tried to self destruct but in the end realized how much better he is with Frankie and I loved that. I’m excited for the rest of the serve series! I think the driven by fate title was perfect because a lot of this story circled around her being a cab driver and porters support and push for her business.

I finally read a book by Tessa Bailey! I guess it took some BDSM to keep my attention. I know that this book is in the middle of a series but it didn’t read like it. I honestly didn’t know it was apart of a series until I completed it.

This was a very steamy story between our main characters Frankie and Porter. Porter is a straight laced guy who is setting up for a scene when Frankie gets curious outside his door. What follows next is a steamy moment that both of them don’t want to walk away from.

Ya’ll Porter was the dirty talker of my dreams! I couldn’t wait for every sex scene because I never knew what was going to come out of his mouth. He could talk a nun out of her underwear. Frankie really didn’t know the beast she woke up when she walked into his room. Frankie was easy to like. Even though she was out of her element, she didn’t back down and continued to show up each time. The chemistry between them was there and apparent throughout the book.

What did irk me was the back and forth with Porter. He knew that was abusing Francessa’s trust but kept doing it anyway. It’s 2019, can we officially be over men who hurt and push women away just because they are starting to feel? I’m over that.

All in all, while it wasn’t the best book it was pretty steamy and kept me reading. Which is an accomplishment because I have DNF’ed so many of Tessa Bailey’s books in the past.

I'm a firm believer that one can never go wrong with a Tessa Bailey book.
