Love has no cost.

A fantastically dark and original story playing off the time-honored themes of family, motherhood, and sacrifice. Less of a science fiction piece and more a reflection on such topics, but I enjoyed the ride!

I started off with the audiobook and really struggled to connect despite knowing that I should be interested in it, when I switched to physically reading it I did get way more into it. I really liked the story idea, a lot of the commentary and the direction things went. I do want to read it again in the future and annotate cause I feel like there were some quotable moments that I missed out on the first read through.

Flat characters and setting combined with unoriginal ideas ruined the potential in this book and made it harder to engage with the protagonist's struggles. The main character had some nicely written moments and the book still managed to move along pacily enough to be readable till the end, with some skipping through certain mediocre pages.
