3.75⭐️This book was good! Writing is lovely. The first half was a lot of tell and not show and there was much more romance than I would have liked. But if that’s something you enjoy I highly recommend

This book is a reminder of why I love Amy Harmon’s books so much. The courage of Deborah Samson is incredibly admirable and inspirational, and the fact that it’s based on a true story is even more remarkable. I had no expectations going into this book but the tears I cried and the anxiety I felt during some scenes paid off in such a beautiful ending. Five stars!

*Finally* finished this book, it took me a month. And that wasn’t because it was long, I just never felt inclined to pick it up. It never gripped me like other Amy Harmon stories have. That being said, the story is powerful and the history of a woman serving in the Revolutionary War is fascinating. But I just needed more from this, and I can’t pinpoint what. But I will continue reading Amy Harmon regardless!
