This isn't my usual genre, even within non-fiction I'm not usually drawn to these types of topics. It was informative, interesting, and the writing style was easy to read (even though the subject matter wasn't always what i would call easy reading). I would probably suggest it to people I know are interested in history or the airforce, but this wasn't so life changing and earth shattering amazing that I'm going to run around suggesting it to everybody I know.

I loved this book. I listened to the audiobook version, and i would highly recommend that this book be consumed in the audiobook format.
Malcom does an excellent job of taking us through a brief history of air wars from the United states airforce perspective, specifically, from bomber command.
The book covers two key characters, Gen. Haywood S. Hansell, and Gen. Curtis LeMay and their philosophy when it comes to bombing campaigns against Japan during world war 2 all way to the infamous bombing campaign of Tokyo.

It would make for an excellent read for anyone that enjoys Malcolm Gladwell's style in general, but also anyone who is interested in some of the more overlooked details of the second world war.

Interesting enough but definitely not one of his better books.

LeMay and Hansell were absolute beasts; as was this book. Well researched and told with a clear voice this is the story of the undercurrent of an ideal that directly led to saved lives, a quicker war, and innovations that ripple to our day. I really enjoyed this departure from Gladwell's usual work!

And I read it!! I've heard it's far better in audiobook form.

Very interesting-I learned a lot about a topic I felt I was decently well versed in.

And I now question how we ever win a war.

First non fiction I've read in awhile. Interesting topic...maybe I'll start reading more war history.

I used to love Malcolm Gladwell’s writing, but this style of poetic non-fiction has become pretty annoying. It’s like a fighting scene full of slow mode.

Malcolm Gladwell can bring any story to life. His approach to research and story telling is outstanding. This was a quick read but the information was very heavy regarding WWII bombing and more specifically the bombing mafia. I listened to the audiobook of which Gladwell narrated. It was awesome to hear the interviews and the voices of peripheral people, scholars, survivors, and experts. Read, or rather listen, to this book!
