How can 1 author have written one of my all time favorites (Talking to Strangers) and then a book like this that was a pain to finish???
Only giving this 2 stars because of the audiobook interviews - made it seem like a long podcast instead of a book.

If Gladwell is at his worst when he’s fitting anecdotes into preconceived frameworks, he’s at his best when he’s telling a good story. There’s a little of both here, but more of the latter. The audiobook is basically a very nicely produced extended podcast, replete with audio recordings, sound design, and original music. I love podcasts, but this wasn’t what I was expecting - so it took a minute to adjust. Once I settled in, though, I was thoroughly engrossed. Gladwell is a great storyteller, and his story here is fascinating and touches on aspects of WWII that I didn’t know at all.

An extended episode of Revisionist History and I enjoyed it immensely.
