I feel like my star rating is reflective of the fact that the topic isn’t my favorite. I still appreciate Gladwell’s work even though the topic isn’t my favorite.

I heard about this audiobook from Startalk - they shared a video with Malcolm and I had to go check it out immediately. I grew up not far from the airforce base discussed in the book and I had never heard of the bomber mafia. This book was incredibly informative. It was also incredibly emotional.
I have to admit I took stars off because this is supposed to be a scholarly approach and towards the end the book had some religious references that felt out of place and jarred me from the topic at hand.

Graphic: War and Death
Moderate: Racism

Interesting but not captivating as many of Gladwell’s books are. I came away horrified at the brutality of the second WW, and in a strange way happy that tech has made war less scorched-earth in nature.

Good story, and told well. Just not holding my interest.

I enjoy Gladwell’s ability to take historical events and spin them in a way that makes the book read like a novel at times. Very interesting book that I can still pull from when I look back at it.
