I was so excited when I found this book. A strong heroine - (who is not a virgin, not the strongest Mage but still kicks hella ass)magic, a guard, a werewolf, a best friend imprisoned all combined into a story I couldn't put down (for the most part). I loved it. It was nonstop action and movement and growth.

I really was pulling for Jon and Rielle. I couldn't stand Brennan. And then, I stopped enjoying Jon and Rielle's romance and started pulling for Brennan. I think Jon is very boring. I think he loves Rielle with a little boy's wide eyes.

I really liked Leigh and Olivia in their supporting cast roles. Big fan.

I'll have to read the next book to see how my feelings change towards the various relationships. I'm anxious to see what happens with Rielle's capture and Brennan's journey to rescue her.

A tale of forbidden love and challenges. The build up of the story was a little slow in the beginning but it was building background so understandable. There were a number of twists and turns that left the reader guessing. Looking forward to reading book 2.

I seriously have not been able to stop thinking about this book since I finished it. It has everything I love in a good fantasy. Clear yet complex magic systems, multidimensional characters, and a whole lot of plot.

More people need to read this series. It’s free on kindle unlimited, but how could you pass up having these covers on your bookshelf? I know I can’t.

WOW I picked this up on a past stuff your kindle day and had no idea what I was getting into. All the feels from LoTR and ToG, written in a way that you’re sucked right in WITHOUT a wall of information to scramble over for the first 60 pages. Will be continuing this series.

This book had great dialogue and an interesting universe with some cool magic mechanics like resonance. I love several of the characters even though some of them have made some terrible decisions along the way. Leigh’s wit is hilarious. Jon is my ideal man, I think—lovable in every way, even if he is a hothead, but I adore the way he stands up for Rielle’s honor. I don’t even mind Brennan too much by the end of the book, except that he becomes a cliche trope. He can’t help that, but I don’t want to feel bad for him. I just wish the story didn’t have to go there. My biggest reservation is that I can clearly see this series is plummeting deep into tortuous love triangle territory, and I cannot stomach that when drawn out over several installations. That’s a big no from me, sorry. I had to peek ahead at spoilers to decide if I would continue reading or not, but I guess I will, even though I’m dreading the back and forth already. I also think some of the plot twists turned a little too sharply at the end. Regardless, I’m still on board to see what’s next. Blade and Rose was a really enjoyable page-turner.

There are a couple details that threw me out of the story, like how the werewolf was about 10 times faster than horses. Maybe faster. Without magic, he's immune to it. That's just not possible. The plot was fairly predictable, and actually everyone but Rielle saw it coming... So, not a very bright chick. And even when the limits of magic are kind of established, she continuously goes above and beyond without consequence. The love story is OK, but please leave Brennan out of it! Good God, I just can't believe he has always loved her, like hell he did. He was nothing but abusive towards her, and even if he redeems himself, Rielle doesn't deserve to end up with him, she deserves better, even if it's not Jon. And if Rielle ever gives into this forced love triangle, then Jon deserves better than her. But, hey, we can't have a YA without a love triangle, amirite? (Please stop

I really enjoyed this book! It is much longer than I expected for this sort of book, it did get a little slow towards the end before picking up again but I really enjoyed the characters and the twists and turns of the plot.

Looking forward to starting book two!

I have a lot to say about this book. First I would like to point out that this is not NA, it's adult. Second I would like to say that I would continue the story if it wasn't for the MC, who is insanely frustrating. And third, this book could be 300 pages. The rest is unnecessary fluff

Pros:
Most of the characters are well fleshed out with varying personalities and well developed background. The world building is well done, the magic system intriguing, the plot is relatively engaging and it's a quick burn romance with the MC and love interest connecting almost instantly.

Cons:
As I said above, the characters have a sexual tension right away and start to fall in love almost immediately. It can make the story frustrating when they keep denying/ sabotaging their attraction and relationship to one another. There's a coup d'etat going on with friends being captured and tortured and the majority of the story is about how much they love each other and will stay by the others side after each incidence of MC keeping something from the love interest (which is a lot). MC also keeps trusting characters that have betrayed her multiple times before! Like why?? There's no personal growth with her and it's infuriating and as the story progresses the love interest loses his personality to be an overbearing babysitter.
