A bit slow - but the last 100 or so pages were a solid 10/10

As much as I was looking forward to this it didn't meet my expectations. Not sure why but the author took away the characteristics from each of the characters that made us love them. It was like these were brand new characters. As for the story, it was okay. Not really wowing, just okay for me. I may continue the series but that's not a strong maybe. We shall see. I am glad I read it for myself instead of relying on other reviews, good or bad.

Apparently my review got flagged by some upset babies.

One star. Aside from Rebecca’s problematic behavior, this series has always been overrated. The writing is juvenile, there are too many things happening in one book alone. It’s heavy to get through. It’s difficult to tell whether she was writing for a YA audience or an adult one. The only thing I originally liked about the series were the dragons and even that fell flat for me in this book. Also, Violet’s reasoning for doing anything continues to make no sense and frustrate. I’m grinding my teeth over who she chooses to be mad at vs who she forgives.

ALSO. Women against women over a male love interest is so DONE. There is too much unnecessary angst on top of angst in this series, and the pacing suffers for it.

Epic pass for the rest of the series and unless things obviously change with how Red Tower produces their content, I will not be supporting this genocide supporting author going forward.
