This may have been the biggest slog I've read in some time (I've read Wheel of Time twice, so I'm aware of it).

The fantasy stuff felt ho-hum and made me think 'it has been done better elsewhere', while the 'romance' felt like the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith (pointless bickering for the sake of bickering).

At least when I finished Fourth Wing, I was willing to read the next book. This has me not wanting to read anything else by her.

The book could have easily been half the length and would have gotten all the story points across and not felt like an slog to read. Also, more POV's please. Enough of Mary-Sue Violet and her hypocrisy (you can't have secrets, but I can...umm okay?)
