This book is about a young girl that seeks comfort and reassurance that her Mama will love her no matter what. The Mama gives comfort and reassurance that she will indeed always love her, but if her daughter makes some mistakes or doesn’t listen Mama might be disappointed. Although Mama promises that doesn’t mean she no longer loves her daughter. It is a great story of how a mothers love has no limits.
The illustrations in this book demonstrate the traditional Inuit culture of the people in Northern Alaska, which makes the book very unique and eye catching! The back of the book has a glossary to explain some of the words and information about the Inuit culture.

I haven't read this book in forever. I just remember my mom reading it to me all the time as a kid and loving it. I need to buy a copy soon.

This was one of my favorite books to have my mom read me as a child. I loved how no matter the mistakes, mother always loved me, despite being upset with the mistake. The illustrations always drew me in and I couldn't wait to share it with my children.

I am very disappointed to find out now, years later, that there were no indigenous people involved in the project. I remember enjoying learning about the things at the back of my book that weren't as familiar as they could be. Just another '90s book under the guise of being progressive.

I remember this book from my childhood, so when I saw it available on Libby I just had to read it for old times sake. I still love it.

This was one of my favorite books to read out loud when I worked in child care. It's art is beautiful and soothing and the rhythm of the words just felt so natural and fun to say out loud. The kids loved it as well, I think they liked listening to teachers work around some of the more obscure words such as ptarmigan egg and mukluks.

I know this one is a classic and beloved children’s book but although I enjoyed this I found some of the words very difficult to pronounce and will need to look them up for future readings. I will say that I did enjoy the glossary in the back with descriptions of all the indigenous vocabulary!
