I went into Jaws thinking it would be similar to the film, and it was, at least somewhat. never have I read a book and disliked every single character, yet still enjoyed the book. Benchley does a wonderful job at creating nuanced characters, and I liked that no one character was just good, or just bad, as they are in the film. Everyone has some detestable traits or inner monologues that make you shudder, but also had redeemable qualities that appeared in hardship. Film Hooper and Brody have my heart, however book Hooper and Brody are for a lack of a better word absolute scoundrels

This book is so bad it’s nothing short of a miracle that they were able to make a movie as good and as enduring in pop culture as jaws is. Jaws is my FAVORITE movie. But this book is hot garbage, the racial stuff is very strange and the affair subplot and the weak ass ending. I’m booing loud as hell.
